Cinderford Methodist Church restoration of the front porch archway

Restoration begins with the careful removal of existing stonework block by block, using supports to prevent collapse.

This was followed by the installment of new replacement blocks of carved stone to the base of the arch.

The sides of the archway are built up before the apex of the original arch can be removed.

The space is cleared of all previous stone and spread with mortar.

The blocks of carved stone for the apex can now be installed, with support given by the previously fitted legs of the archway.
